MaxPreps uses a short list of pseudo teams to act as placeholders for rare scenarios coaches may encounter.
Below is the full list of pseudo schools and their purpose:
Varsity Opponent
Coaches are able to schedule games against, "Varsity Opponent" in the following scenarios:
- When a team is playing a varsity team that is currently not covered by MaxPreps.
- The coach is unable to find the opponent in the MaxPreps database.
- They are playing a varsity team and the game should not be reflected on the opponent's schedule.
- When a team is playing a varsity team that is currently not covered by MaxPreps.
- The coach is unable to find the opponent in the MaxPreps database.
- They are playing a varsity team and the game should not be reflected on the opponent's schedule.
JV Opponent
Coaches are able to schedule games against, "JV Opponent" in the following scenarios:
- When a non-JV team is playing a JV team.
- When a team at any level is playing a JV level opponent and they are not listed in the MaxPreps database.
- When a non-JV team is playing a JV team.
- When a team at any level is playing a JV level opponent and they are not listed in the MaxPreps database.
Freshman Opponent
Coaches are able to schedule games against, "Freshman Opponent" in the following scenarios:
- When a non-freshman team is playing a freshman team.
- When a team at any level is playing a freshman level opponent and they are not listed in the MaxPreps database.
- When a non-freshman team is playing a freshman team.
- When a team at any level is playing a freshman level opponent and they are not listed in the MaxPreps database.
Non-Varsity Opponent
Coaches are able to schedule games against, "Non-Varsity Opponent" in the following scenarios:
- When a team at any level is playing a non varsity level team.
- When a team at any level is playing a non varsity level team.
Non-JV Opponent
Coaches are able to schedule games against, "Non-JV Opponent" in the following scenarios:
- When a JV team is playing a non JV level team.
- When a JV team is playing a non JV level team.
Coaches are able to schedule games against, "Non-Freshman Opponent" in the following scenarios:
- When a freshman team is playing a non-freshman level team.
- When a team at any level is playing a non varsity level team and they are not listed in the MaxPreps database.
- When a freshman team is playing a non-freshman level team.
- When a team at any level is playing a non varsity level team and they are not listed in the MaxPreps database.
Tournament Opponent/Team
Coaches are able to schedule games against, "Tournament Opponent or Tournament Team" in the following scenarios:
- When a team is playing a varsity team in a tournament that is currently not covered by MaxPreps, they can schedule the game vs. "Tournament Team."
- When a tournament game may count towards one teams schedule and not the others, they can schedule the game vs. "Tournament Team."
- When a team is playing a varsity team in a tournament that is currently not covered by MaxPreps, they can schedule the game vs. "Tournament Team."
- When a tournament game may count towards one teams schedule and not the others, they can schedule the game vs. "Tournament Team."
